Hope you like it and don't be afraid of leaving some feedback
I relate to this a lot. Back in the early to mid 2000s when I was a teenager, I was the slowest swimmer in my P.E. class. I tried my hardest to keep up with everyone else but I couldn't. Now that I'm in my early thirties, I just swim like I don't care anymore. Because that's the vibe that I get now a days. I still don't swim very fast but I at least I can still swim at all. I can side stroke, back stroke and even dive pretty decently.
I actually first learned how to swim in 1992, when I was about five years old. I feel that when you have a trainer/lifeguard teach you and only you how to swim, it makes it easier to learn rather than a school gym teacher, teaching a group of students. It makes you feel more confident and less insecure.
I learned this: You can spend a lot of time trying to be better than the swimmer next to you or you can spend the time to be better than the swimmer that you used to be. In other words, challenge yourself. Don't focus on the person next to you, focus on you and only you!
